| 3:1 | 該撒提庇留在位第十五年，本丟彼拉多作猶太總督，希律作加利利分封的王，他兄弟腓力作以土利亞和特拉可尼地方分封的王，呂撒聶作亞比利尼分封的王， Now in the fifteenth year of the government of Tiberius Caesar, while Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip was tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene, |
| 3:2 | 亞那和該亞法作大祭司。那時，撒迦利亞的兒子約翰在曠野裡，神的話臨到他。 During the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John the son of Zachariah in the wilderness. |
| 3:3 | 他就來到約但河四周全境，傳悔改的浸，使罪得赦。 And he came into all the region surrounding the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins, |
| 3:4 | 正如申言者以賽亞書上所記的話：「在曠野有人聲喊著：預備主的道路，修直祂的途徑。 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, "A voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight His paths. |
| 3:5 | 一切山窪都要填滿，大小山岡都要削平；彎曲的要修為直路，崎嶇的要改為坦途； Every ravine shall be filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be leveled; and the crooked places shall become a straight way, and the rough ways smooth. |
| 3:6 | 凡屬肉體的人，都要看見神的救恩。」 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.'' |
| 3:7 | 約翰對那些出來要受他浸的群眾說，毒蛇之種，誰指示你們逃避要來的忿怒？ He said therefore to the crowds going out to be baptized by him, Offspring of vipers, who prompted you to flee from the coming wrath? |
| 3:8 | 你們要結出果子，與悔改相稱，不要自己心裡說，我們有亞伯拉罕作我們的祖宗。我告訴你們，神能從這些石頭中給亞伯拉罕興起子孫來。 Produce then fruits worthy of your repentance, and do not begin to say within yourselves, We have Abraham as our father; for I tell you that God is able out of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. |
| 3:9 | 現在斧頭已經放在樹根上，凡不結好果子的樹，就砍下來，丟在火裡。 And already also the axe is laid at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not produce good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. |
| 3:10 | 群眾問他說，這樣，我們當作什麼？ And the crowds asked him, saying, What then shall we do? |
| 3:11 | 約翰回答他們說，有兩件裡衣的，就分給那沒有的，有食物的，也當這樣行。 And he answered and said to them, He who has two tunics, let him share with the one who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise. |
| 3:12 | 又有稅吏來要受浸，問他說，夫子，我們當作什麼？ And tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, Teacher, what shall we do? |
| 3:13 | 他說，除了給你們規定的，不要多取。 And he said to them, Exact nothing more than what you have been ordered to. |
| 3:14 | 又有當兵的問他說，我們當作什麼？他說，不要以強暴待人，也不要訛詐人，自己有糧餉就當知足。 And some serving in the military also questioned him, saying, And we, what shall we do? And he said to them, Extort nothing from anyone by force, nor take anything by false accusation, and be content with your wages. |
| 3:15 | 百姓正在期待的時候，眾人都心裡議論，或者約翰是基督。 Now while the people were in expectation and all were reasoning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might possibly be the Christ, |
| 3:16 | 約翰對眾人說，我是將你們浸在水裡，但有一位能力比我更大的要來，我就是給祂解鞋帶也不配，祂要將你們浸在聖靈與火裡。 John answered and said to all, I baptize you in water, but He who is stronger than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He Himself will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire, |
| 3:17 | 祂手裡拿著揚場的簸箕，要揚淨祂的禾場，把麥子收在祂的倉裡，把糠秕用不滅的火燒盡了。 Whose winnowing fan is in His hand to thoroughly cleanse His threshing floor and to gather the wheat into His barn, but the chaff He will burn up with unquenchable fire. |
| 3:18 | 約翰又用許多別的話勸勉百姓，向他們傳福音。 So, exhorting them with many other things also, he announced the gospel to the people. |
| 3:19 | 但分封的王希律，因他兄弟之妻希羅底的緣故，並因他所行的一切惡事，受了約翰的責備， But Herod the tetrarch, because he was reproved by him concerning Herodias, his brother's wife, and concerning all the evil things which Herod did, |
| 3:20 | 就在這一切之外，又加上一件，就是把約翰囚在監裡。 Added this also above all: he shut John up in prison. |
| 3:21 | 眾百姓都受了浸，耶穌也受了浸； Now when all the people were baptized and as Jesus was baptized and was praying, heaven was opened, |
| 3:22 | 正禱告的時候，天就開了，聖靈以彷彿鴿子的形體，降在祂身上，又有聲音從天上出來，說，你是我的愛子，我喜悅你。 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form as a dove upon Him. And a voice came out of heaven: You are My Son, the Beloved; in You I have found My delight. |
| 3:23 | 耶穌開始盡職的時候，約有三十歲。依人看來，祂是約瑟的兒子，約瑟是希里的兒子， And He, Jesus, when He began to minister, was about thirty years old, being, so it was thought, the son of Joseph, the son of Heli, |
