| 1:1 | 提阿非羅大人哪，因為有好些人已經著手作書，述說在我們中間所完全成就的事， Inasmuch as many have undertaken to draw up a narrative concerning the matters which have been fully accomplished among us, |
| 1:2 | 是照那些從起初親眼看見，又將這道供應我們的人，所交付我們的； Even as those who from the beginning became eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us, |
| 1:3 | 這一切的事我既從起頭都詳確考察了，就認為也該按著次序寫給你， It seemed good to me also, having carefully investigated all things from the first, to write them out for you in an orderly fashion, most excellent Theophilus, |
| 1:4 | 使你深知所教導你的事，都是確實的。 So that you may fully know the certainty of the things concerning which you were instructed. |
| 1:5 | 在猶太王希律的日子，亞比雅班裡有一位祭司，名叫撒迦利亞；他妻子是亞倫的後代，名叫以利沙伯。 In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a certain priest named Zachariah, of the course of Abijah; and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. |
| 1:6 | 他們二人在神面前都是義人，遵行主的一切誡命、典章，無可指摘， And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord, blameless. |
| 1:7 | 只是沒有孩子，因為以利沙伯不生育，兩個人又上了年紀。 And they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both advanced in their days. |
| 1:8 | 有一天，撒迦利亞按著班次，在神面前供祭司的職分， And while he served as priest in the order of his course before God, |
| 1:9 | 照祭司職任的規矩中了簽，得進主殿燒香。 According to the custom of the priestly service, the lot fell to him to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense. |
| 1:10 | 燒香的時候，全群的百姓在外面禱告。 And all the multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of the burning of incense. |
| 1:11 | 有主的使者站在香壇的右邊，向他顯現。 And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. |
| 1:12 | 撒迦利亞看見，就驚慌害怕。 And Zachariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. |
| 1:13 | 天使對他說，撒迦利亞，不要害怕，因為你的祈求已蒙垂聽，你的妻子以利沙伯要給你生一個兒子，你要給他起名叫約翰。 But the angel said to him, Do not be afraid, Zachariah, because your petition has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. |
| 1:14 | 你必喜樂歡騰，有許多人因他出生，也必歡樂。 And you will have joy and exultation, and many will rejoice at his birth. |
| 1:15 | 他在主面前將要為大，淡酒、濃酒都不喝，從母腹裡就被聖靈充溢了。 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall by no means drink wine and liquor. And he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb, |
| 1:16 | 他要使許多以色列子孫轉向主他們的神。 And many of the sons of Israel he will turn to the Lord their God. |
| 1:17 | 他必憑以利亞的靈和能力，行在主的面前，叫父親的心轉向兒女，並叫悖逆的人轉向義人的精明，為主預備合用的百姓。 And it is he who will go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the prudence of the righteous, to prepare for the Lord a people made ready. |
| 1:18 | 撒迦利亞對天使說，我憑什麼可以知道這事？我已經老了，我的妻子也上了年紀。 And Zachariah said to the angel, By what shall I know this? For I am an old man and my wife is advanced in years. |
| 1:19 | 天使回答說，我是站在神面前的加百列，奉差遣對你說話，將這些事的好信息報給你。 And the angel answered and said to him, I am Gabriel, who stands before God, and I was sent to speak to you and to announce the good news of these things to you. |
| 1:20 | 到了時候，我的話必然應驗；只因你不信，看哪，你必啞口不能說話，直到這些事成就的日子。 And behold, you shall be silent and not able to speak until the day that these things happen, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time. |
| 1:21 | 百姓等候撒迦利亞，當他在殿裡遲延的時候，他們都希奇。 And the people were waiting for Zachariah, and they marveled at his delaying in the temple. |
| 1:22 | 等他出來，不能和他們說話，他們就知道他在殿裡見了異象。他直向他們打手式，竟成了啞吧。 And when he came out, he was not able to speak to them, and they realized that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he made signs to them and remained dumb. |
| 1:23 | 他供職的日子滿了，就回家去了。 And when the days of his service were fulfilled, he went to his house. |
| 1:24 | 這些日子以後，他的妻子以利沙伯懷了孕，就隱藏了五個月，說， And after these days Elizabeth his wife conceived and stayed in seclusion for five months, saying, |
| 1:25 | 主在眷顧的日子，這樣待我，要把我在人間的羞恥除掉。 In this way has the Lord dealt with me in the days in which He looked upon me to take away my reproach among men. |
| 1:26 | 到了第六個月，天使加百列奉神差遣，往加利利的一座城去，這城名叫拿撒勒。 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, |
| 1:27 | 到一個童女那裡，是已經許配大衛家的一個人，名叫約瑟，童女的名字叫馬利亞。 To a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. |
| 1:28 | 天使進去，對她說，蒙大恩的女子，願你喜樂！主與你同在了。 And he came to her and said, Rejoice, you who have been graced! The Lord is with you. |
| 1:29 | 她因這話就很驚慌，又反覆思想這樣問安是什麼意思。 And she was greatly troubled at this saying and began reasoning what kind of greeting this might be. |
| 1:30 | 天使對她說，馬利亞，不要怕，你在神面前已經蒙恩了。 And the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found grace with God. |
| 1:31 | 看哪，你將懷孕生子，要給祂起名叫耶穌。 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus. |
| 1:32 | 祂要為大，稱為至高者的兒子，主神要把祂祖大衛的寶座給祂， He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to Him the throne of David His father, |
| 1:33 | 祂要作雅各家的王，直到永遠，祂的國也沒有窮盡。 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end. |
| 1:34 | 馬利亞對天使說，我沒有出嫁，怎麼會有這事？ But Mary said to the angel, How will this be, since I have not known a man? |
| 1:35 | 天使回答說，聖靈要臨到你身上，至高者的能力要覆庇你，因此所要生的聖者，必稱為神的兒子。 And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore also the holy thing which is born will be called the Son of God. |
| 1:36 | 況且你看，你的親戚以利沙伯，就是那素來稱為不生育的，在年老的時候，也懷了男胎，現在已是第六個月了。 And behold, Elizabeth your relative, she also has conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who is called barren, |
| 1:37 | 因為在神，沒有一句話是不可能的。 Because no word will be impossible with God. |
| 1:38 | 馬利亞說，看哪，我是主的婢女，情願照你的話成就在我身上。天使就離開她去了。 And Mary said, Behold, the slave of the Lord. May it happen to me according to your word. And the angel departed from her. |
| 1:39 | 在那些日子，馬利亞起身，急忙往山地裡去，來到猶大的一座城， And Mary rose up in those days and went to the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, |
| 1:40 | 進了撒迦利亞的家，問以利沙伯安。 And entered into the house of Zachariah and greeted Elizabeth. |
| 1:41 | 以利沙伯一聽到馬利亞問安，所懷的胎就在腹裡跳動，以利沙伯且被聖靈充溢， And when Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. |
| 1:42 | 高聲喊著說，你在婦女中是有福的，你腹中的果子也是有福的。 And she lifted up her voice with a loud cry and said, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! |
| 1:43 | 我主的母親竟然到我這裡來，這事怎麼會臨到我？ And how has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? |
| 1:44 | 看哪，你問安的聲音一入我耳，我腹裡的胎就歡騰跳動。 For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby leaped with exultation in my womb. |
| 1:45 | 這相信的女子是有福的，因為主對她所說的事，都要完成。 And blessed is she who has believed, because there will be a completion of the things spoken to her from the Lord. |
| 1:46 | 馬利亞說，我魂尊主為大， And Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord, |
| 1:47 | 我靈曾以神我的救主為樂， And my spirit has exulted in God my Savior; |
| 1:48 | 因祂顧念祂婢女的卑微。看哪，從今以後，萬代要稱我有福。 Because He has looked upon the low estate of His slave. For behold, from now on all generations will count me blessed, |
| 1:49 | 那有權能的為我行了大事，祂的名為聖； Because the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is His name. |
| 1:50 | 祂的憐憫歸與敬畏祂的人，直到世世代代。 And His mercy is unto generations and generations, unto those who fear Him. |
| 1:51 | 祂用膀臂施展權能，驅散那些心裡妄想的狂傲人。 He has exercised might with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in the understanding of their heart. |
| 1:52 | 祂叫有權柄的失位，叫卑微的升高， He has brought down potentates from thrones and has exalted the humble; |
| 1:53 | 叫飢餓的得飽美物，叫富足的空著回去。 The hungry He has filled with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty. |
| 1:54 | 祂扶助了祂的僕人以色列， He has upheld Israel His servant to remember mercy, |
| 1:55 | 為要記念祂向亞伯拉罕和他後裔所施的憐憫，直到永遠，正如祂對我們列祖所說的。 Even as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever. |
| 1:56 | 馬利亞和以利沙伯同住約有三個月，就回家去了。 And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her home. |
| 1:57 | 以利沙伯的產期到了，就生了一個兒子。 Now the time was fulfilled for Elizabeth to give birth, and she bore a son. |
| 1:58 | 鄰里親族聽見主向她大施憐憫，就和她一同歡樂。 And her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had magnified His mercy with her, and they rejoiced with her. |
| 1:59 | 到了第八日，他們來要給孩子行割禮，並有意照他父親的名字，叫他撒迦利亞。 And on the eighth day they came to circumcise the little child, and they tried to call him after the name of his father, Zachariah. |
| 1:60 | 但他母親說，不可，要叫他約翰。 Yet his mother answered and said, No, but he shall be called John. |
| 1:61 | 他們對她說，你親族中沒有叫這名字的。 And they said to her, There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name. |
| 1:62 | 他們就向他父親打手式，看他願意叫他什麼。 And they gestured to his father as to what he would want him to be called. |
| 1:63 | 他要了一塊寫字板，就寫上說，他的名字是約翰。他們便都希奇。 And asking for a tablet, he wrote, saying, John is his name. And they all marveled. |
| 1:64 | 撒迦利亞的口立時開了，舌頭也舒展了，就說出話來，頌讚神。 And his mouth was opened instantly, and his tongue loosed, and he began to speak, blessing God. |
| 1:65 | 住在周圍的人都起了敬畏，這一切的事就傳遍了全猶太山地。 And fear came on all those dwelling around them, and in all the hill country of Judea all these things were spread about. |
| 1:66 | 凡聽見的人，都將這事放在心裡，說，這個孩子將來會怎麼樣？因為主的手與他同在。 And all who heard these things put them in their heart, saying, What then will this little child be? For indeed the hand of the Lord was with him. |
| 1:67 | 他父親撒迦利亞被聖靈充溢，就申言說， And Zachariah his father was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying, |
| 1:68 | 主以色列的神是當受頌讚的，因祂眷顧祂的百姓，為他們施行救贖， Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and accomplished redemption for His people, |
| 1:69 | 在祂僕人大衛家中，為我們興起了拯救的角， And raised a horn of salvation for us in the house of David His servant, |
| 1:70 | 正如祂從時間起首，藉著聖申言者的口所說的， Even as He spoke through the mouth of His holy prophets from of old -- |
| 1:71 | 拯救我們脫離仇敵，和一切恨我們之人的手； Salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us, |
| 1:72 | 向我們列祖施憐憫，記念祂的聖約， To accomplish mercy with our fathers and to remember His holy covenant, |
| 1:73 | 就是祂對我們祖宗亞伯拉罕所起的誓， The oath which He swore to Abraham our father, |
| 1:74 | 叫我們既從仇敵手中被救出來， To grant us that we, having been delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, |
| 1:75 | 就可以一生一世在祂面前，坦然無懼的用聖和義事奉祂。 In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days. |
| 1:76 | 孩子啊，你要稱為至高者的申言者，因為你要行在主的面前，預備祂的道路， And you also, little child, shall be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare His ways, |
| 1:77 | 叫祂的百姓因罪得赦，就認識救恩。 To give knowledge of salvation to His people by the forgiveness of their sins, |
| 1:78 | 因我們神憐憫的心腸，叫清晨的日光從高天臨到我們， Because of the merciful compassions of our God, in which the rising sun will visit us from on high, |
| 1:79 | 要照亮坐在黑暗中死蔭裡的人，把我們的腳引到平安的路上。 To shine upon those sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. |
| 1:80 | 那孩子漸漸長大，靈裡剛強，住在曠野，直到他向以色列人顯明的日子。 And the little child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day of his presentation to Israel. |
